ABOUT ELENA

 

Elena Day is a Washington, DC-based movement theater director, performer, and teacher.

 

Elena has directed and designed movement for Cirque du Soleil, The Kennedy Center, Imagination Stage, Studio Theatre, Adventure Theatre, Sidwell Friends School and Mad Cow Theatre.

Most well known as the creator of Cirque du Soleil's signature character, The Green Bird, Elena is a seasoned performer with thousands of shows under her belt.



Her work as a director, coach and consultant has taken her around the world, and given her the opportunity to work with the best in the worlds of theatrical clowning, circus and street arts.

 

A dedicated teacher, Elena works with a wide range of students -- from non-performers to professionals. In short, anyone interested in expanding their self-awareness through the power of the body and the power of play.



Her background is in Lecoq-based physical theater, improvisation, modern dance and yoga.
